Novelgames Asteroids 1.8.1
A fun although complicated adaptation of the classic Asteroids from Atari.
The year was 1979 when the American company Atari revolutionized the gaming world with a simple spaceship game called Asteroids. Its popularity was such that it became one of the principal architect of the so-called Golden Age of the arcade games and even today has a legion of hardcore gamers as well as many versions and adaptations, such as the one in question: Novelgames Asteroids.
As in the original, in Novelgames Asteroids, you'll be at the controls of a spaceship, whose main objective is survival against the constant arrival of meteorites of all sizes. The control of your vehicle remains faithful to recreational Atari, rotatable about yourselves, left and right, and once you've placed the ship in the right direction, you can accelerate or decelerate to move. Of course, you'll have the possibility to shoot, to reduce the asteroids into smaller fragments, and to avoid them more easily.
Although the gameplay and the ability to entertain in the original remains intact in this adaptation, the difficulty itself has been slightly increased. In addition to a single life, accentuating the survival component mentioned earlier, in Novelgames Asteroids you'll also receive a visit from enemy ships trying to bring you down, and make things more complicated. Also deleted is the possibility of leaving the screen by one side and appearing on the opposite side, staying now much more limited when it comes to moving and most likely to be cornered when facing the meteor shower.
